Overtime Terms

Overtime (OT) Terms define how employees are rewarded when they perform work beyond their scheduled hours.

Overtime rewards can be configured in two ways:

  1. Paid
  2. Compensatory Off (Comp Off)
WARNING

Paid overtime is currently under development and is not yet supported.

At present, the system supports Comp Off–based overtime terms only.

Term Types

TypeDescription
PaidEmployees receive monetary compensation for approved overtime hours. (Not yet supported)
Comp OffEmployees receive leave credits based on approved overtime hours completed.

Comp Off Configuration

When Comp Off is selected as the term type, the following fields must be configured:

FieldDescription
Min Hours for Half DayMinimum approved overtime hours required to qualify for a half-day comp off.
Min Hours for Full DayMinimum approved overtime hours required to qualify for a full-day comp off.
Comp Off Per Overtime DayNumber of comp off leaves credited per eligible full overtime day.
TIP

Ensure that the "Min Hours for Half Day" value is lower than the "Min Hours for Full Day" to avoid configuration conflicts.

Example

If the configuration is:

  • Min Hours for Full Day: 8 hours
  • Comp Off Per Overtime Day: 2

And an employee completes 8 hours of approved overtime,

➡ The employee will receive 2 Comp Off leaves.

Comp Off Leave Type Mapping

All overtime comp off credits are mapped to a predefined leave type:

  • Name: Overtime Comp Off
  • Code: COFF
INFO

All credited comp offs are automatically added to the employee’s leave balance under the COFF leave type.

Overtime Reward Processing Flow

  1. Employee applies for overtime.
  2. Overtime goes through the configured approval workflow.
  3. Once fully approved, the system evaluates:
    • Total approved overtime hours
    • Configured comp off rules
  4. On the following day, the system:
    • Calculates eligible comp offs
    • Credits the leave balance under COFF
NOTE

Comp off crediting is automatic and occurs only after final approval.

Important Notes

  • Comp off credits are generated only after overtime approval.
  • Partial hours are evaluated according to the configured thresholds.
  • Paid overtime is not currently supported.
